In accordance with the major card schemes, Cardstream is adhering to their mandate that 3-D Secure v1.x.x (known herein throughout as 3DSv1) will be entirely decommissioned by 18th October 2022.
Below are the decommission dates for each major card scheme:
American Express - 14th October 2022
- Will decommission 3DSv1. All transactions submitted to the American Express 3DSv1 Directory Server will result in an error response.
Diners and Discover - 14th October 2022
- Will decommission 3DSv1. All transactions submitted to the Discover 3DSv1 Directory Server will result in an error response.
VISA - 15th October 2022
- Will discontinue support for 3DSv1 and all related technology. All transactions submitted to the Visa 3DSv1 Directory Server will result in an error response. From 16th October 2021, Visa updated its rules where liability will be on the merchant for 3DSv1 attempted authentications where the issuer does not support 3DSv1.
Mastercard - 18th October 2022
- 3DSv1 transactions will no longer be supported on the Mastercard network. 3DSv1 Directory Server Shutdown.
In order to comply with the above dates, Cardstream will look to decommission 3DSv1 by 09th September 2022. To support this; Cardstream will be allocating specific timeframes to each Partner to offer dedicated support with the migration to EMV 3-D Secure ahead of the mandated deadline.
