These are the questions Cardstream Support usually see regarding the Gateway:
Q – What is the role of a Payment Gateway?
The Payment Gateway fraud checks transactions and allows the Cardholder to enter their card data to take a payment.
Q - Does your Gateway offer a Virtual Terminal?
Yes our Gateway does offer a Virtual Terminal service. It is found within the MMS (Merchant Management System).
Q - Can we set-up additional users within the MMS (Merchant Management System)?
Yes, Customers can have additional users created. To create these we need the following details:
- Users e-mail address;
- Users full name (first and last);
- Users group permission.
Q – Is there a limit on additional user accounts?
No, the Customer can have as many user as they require.
Q – Can a Merchant tokenise a card?
Yes, Cardstream store this information in the using the Cross Reference (xref) and this is available under the ‘Transactions’ tab.
Q – What is Tokenisation?
Tokenisation is the act of turning a card number or other detail into a (seemingly) random alpha numeric string. A Merchant can then perform recurring transactions without having to store card data.
Q – What are your percentage fees?
Percentage fees come from the Acquirer.
Q - How long does it take to set up the Gateway?
Once the Merchant Account is live the Gateway set-up will take up to 48 hours to go live.
Q - Can the Pay by Link/Button be used more than once?
Yes once the link is generated it remains active and reusable with an unlimited lifespan.
Q - What fraud prevention tools does the Gateway offer?
The Gateway offers the following fraud prevention tools to each Customer:
- CV2 (Security Code) Checking;
- AVS (Address Verification System) Checking;
- 3D Secure;
- Direct Integration/IP Configuration;
- Signature Key/Pre-Shared Key;
- BIN Blocking (Merchant Accepted Card Types and Merchant Rejected Card Issuer Countries);
- Velocity Checks;
- Third Party Integration with Kount.

Q - What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is an extra layer of fraud prevention. When a Cardholder performs a Visa or MasterCard transaction, they are redirected to the 3D Secure i frame/pop-up where they must enter an arbitrary password they set at an earlier date.
Q - Is your Gateway PCI: DSS Compliant?
Yes, the Gateway is PCI: DSS Compliant to Level 1.
