Overview

The Merchant Preferences page is used to configure your Merchant account third-party risk checking preferences. The preferences page contains the following sub sections:

Risk Checking Support

Kount is a third-party partner you can use for enhanced risk checking when processing on this Merchant account. This preference is only available to Admin and Reseller users.

Risk Checking Preferences

You can then configure the Gateway to automatically send any transactions to Kount to perform enhanced risk checks. This section also allows you to choose whether or not to accept transactions where the the third-party has marked the transaction as a 'risk'.

The 'states' which the third-party may return include:

States
Escalate	Risk processor indicates that the transaction is risky and should be manually reviewed.
Review	Risk processor indicates that the transaction is risky and should be manually reviewed.
Decline	Risk processor indicates that the transaction is risky and should be manually reviewed.
Not Checked	Risk processor is unable to calculate the risk. This is likely to be due to a problem with processing the request.
Not Known	Risk processor is unavailable or there is a problem communicating with it.

You then would allocate an 'action' depending on the 'state', these options include:

Actions
Continue to authorise as normal	Normally automated authorisation and capturing process.
Authorise only, manual capture	Authorises the payment, however, a manual CAPTURE is required (i.e. via the Merchant Management System or through the Direct Integration)
Decline with no indication of risk	Reports a responseCode of ‘5’ - DO NOT HONOR with a responseMessage of ‘DECLINED’
Decline with indication of risk	Reports a responseCode of ‘5’ - DO NOT HONOR with a responseMessage of ‘RISK DECLINED’
Abort immediately with risk error	Reports a responseCode and responseMessage depending on the state: If the risk checking was in error you will get responseCode ‘0x10141’ with a responseMessage of ‘Risk check error’ If the risk checking worked but you asked to abort then you will get responseCode ‘0x10146’ with a responseMessage of ‘RISK xxxx’ (‘xxxx’ could be ‘REVIEW’, ‘ESCALATE’ or ‘DECLINE’)
